Best Friend's Animal Hospital is full service small animal general practice looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Certified Veterinary Technician to join our growing team!

We are looking for someone who loves animals, works well in a fast paced environment, and effectively prioritizes tasks. Our Veterinary Technicians are instrumental in building relationships with our clients and ensuring that appointments are triaged and scheduled appropriately.
The responsibilities of our Technicians include:
General:
- Maintain a professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude when interacting with clients
- Work independently and as part of the team
- Obtain patient history for all incoming appointments
- Provide client education regarding nutrition, medications, disease processes, and general care
- Update medical records based on hospital protocols
- Process laboratory samples (both in-house and reference labs)
- Obtain vitals on patients, triage patients based on urgency, and communicate finding to the doctor
- Create Estimates for surgical procedure and treatments
- Lead technician appointments
- Utilize practice management software in accordance with hospital protocols
- Obtain radiographs utilizing proper positioning
- Obtain samples for laboratory testing through phlebotomy, skin scraping, swabbing, and cystocentesis
- Prepare slides and evaluate slides for yeast, bacteria, and parasites
- Restrain patients for exam and treatments
- Keep all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized
- Fill prescriptions for different types of medications
Surgery/Dentistry
- Calculation and administration of anesthetic drugs and pre-meds
- Familiarity with controlled drug laws and protocols
- Familiarity with routine surgery processes and pack composition
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
- Prepare patients for surgery including administering pre-meds and shaving
- Intubate and extubate patients
- Monitor anesthesia
- Troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia and dental machines
- Obtain dental radiographs in accordance with best practices and hospital protocols
- Execute dental scaling and polishing
Qualifications:
- CVT preferred
- Accurately calculate medication dosages and rates of administration
- Communicate in a clear, concise, and understandable manner
- Proficient in low stress animal restraint (Fear Free Certification is a plus)
- In-depth understanding of laboratory analyses and disease processes
Schedule:
- Daytime schedule
- Rotating Saturdays from 8am -12pm
