Description

PURPOSE:

Run your crews of Service Technician and Apprentice. Build the project, fix the leaks. Manage the quality, safety, and productivity phases of all the field activities. Maintain a safe, OSHA compliant work site. Ensure key stakeholders (Client, Senior VP of Service Operations & Shared Services, Warehouse and Logistics Manager, Accounting, and Sales) are engaged and informed throughout the entire job process. Provide stellar customer service. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management – 

  • Must have “roofer” skill set. Job requires trouble shooting roof problems and training of personnel in proper repair and installation methods.
  • May need to step in and support crew members as business requires. 
  • Adhere to Best Roofing Fundamentals 
  • Oversee all assigned personnel. Understand product specification and scope of work requirements and communicate same to Service Technician.
  • Prior to making any purchase, always check the levels of inventory on hand. If items are not available in inventory for your specific project price shop the item to find the best solution. Work in conjunction with the Shared Services. 
  • Ensure adequate job knowledge absorbed from Sales team: Never start a project without doing a proper pre-job pass-off meeting both from sales and to crews. For T&M calls ensure the notes in the FCS ticket are clear and concise.
  • Request sheet metal fabrication from Sheet Metal Shop Foreman to insure timely fabrication if necessary.
  • Request equipment, tools, load-out, off-loads, dumpsters etc. from the Logistics Managers ASAP to ensure we achieve our deadlines. Provide Logistics Managers as much notice as possible to fill material and equipment needs.
  • Ensure your crews are properly prepared and on the road no later than 7:15 each morning.
  • Ensure crews properly manage inputs in FCS computer platform.
  • Manage Warranty work to capture lessons learned from call backs. Visit site with crew on all call back work to assure there is no 3rd call back.     
  • Communicate project status to clients upon completion or as milestones are accomplished.
  • Review and confirm FCS invoicing for your assigned area on a daily basis.
  • Achieve Project Budget Objectives. Review job costs and understand the status of all projects. Communicate all lessons learned to Sales Team when budget discrepancy noted. (Note – this doesn’t apply to T&M projects)


Project Administration –

  • FCS – Master system functionality to level required to train others.
  • FCS – Clear invoices completed in your area daily. Ensure pictures and verbiage is accurate. 
  • Organize and update Schedule Board. All projects assigned need to have an anticipated start date.
  • Ensure all associates are using the FCS app to record hours worked.
  • Ensure a copy of all project information is transmitted into FCS. Upload pictures of each project showing all phases of construction into project folders.
  • Participate in all weekly Service Department meetings. Participate in weekly construction department meetings when Construction job being completed by Service department. 
  • Work with Dispatch Coordinator to complete next day planning so schedule can be published the day before work commences.  
  • Work with Shared Services to ensure adequate material stock on shelves in warehouse. 

The below bullet points don’t pertain to T&M projects

  • Work in conjunction with the billing department to ensure billings are accurate and delivered in accordance with the terms of the agreement. Ensure jobs are coded for billing within 48 hours of completion.
  • Generate and execute all Change Orders (on projects assigned) when the scope of work deviates from the contract. Confirm all option costs listed as extras, such as permitting, are invoiced to client. 
  • Ensure your accounts are collected. Monitor accounts for payment within terms. Strive to maintain DSO below target of 40 days.  

Safety – 

  • Maintain safe worksites.
  • Assure all crews receive monthly Jobsite Safety review.
  • Participate on Safety committee. 
  • Obtain OSHA 30 status and Osha 10 for Tech assigned to you. 
  • Process “order taking” calls and “Hot Sheet/QwikBid” sales opportunities. 
  • FCS – Preform inspections on properties as required in support sales efforts. 

 HR – 

  • Assist Sr. VP of Service Operations and Shared Services with recruiting, hiring, appraisals, promotions / raises and termination. Process all associated paperwork ASAP.
  • Perform semi-annual crew leader evaluations as required by H.R.
  • Perform monthly truck & tool inspection for each crew and each individual.
  • Support and enhance internal training initiatives for Technicians. Make every problem an opportunity for learning.

General – 

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Warranty call-back rate of <20% on projects you manage.
  • Individual performance in accordance with the Best Roofing wheel of success. Fair, Firm and Consistent. 
  • Maintain DSO below department goal of 40 days.
