Job Description
DESCRIPTION:
Custodial positions are responsible for general housekeeping duties, including, but not limited to, cleaning building restrooms, hallways, lounges, laundry rooms, offices, and classrooms; picking up and removing refuse, sweeping sidewalks, and snow removal as required; assisting in other facilities departments as needed; and performing other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Each custodian is assigned a dorm and a building to clean. This includes taking out trash, vacuuming, and cleaning the restrooms.
- Prepare the building for special events that might occur there.
- Assist in setting up any rooms if necessary.
- Report all maintenance repair items to the Custodial Supervisor.
- Perform minor maintenance duties.
- Assist with other building assignments if necessary.
- Assist in the security of the building.
- Attend training sessions to learn about new products, cleaning methods, campus policy updates, and/or professional development.
- Supervise students in summer cleaning.
- Supervise student custodial workers.
- Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions.
- Provide continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting improvement of area operations, efficiency, and service to internal and external customers.
- Work in collaboration and cooperation with other departments and academic divisions on campus, using timely and appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding department concerns and responsibilities
- Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Current Driver's License
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate (or currently pursuing one with a set graduation date)
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
- Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment
