The Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of the properties operated by Bethany House. This role ensures that all facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents by performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep. The Maintenance Worker will collaborate with staff to address urgent maintenance needs and maintain a clean, home-like environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Maintains the rights, privacy, and dignity of all residents.
· Oversees all aspects of maintenance for the houses, including repairs and painting.
· Ensures daily restocking of supplies and proper organization at each house.
· Handles lightbulb replacements, washing machine upkeep, basic plumbing, and general repairs.
· Manages power washing, transport of furniture and supplies, and procures necessary materials.
· Executes special projects such as clearing and maintaining sheds, walkways, and other areas as directed.
· Maintains a clean and welcoming environment, treating the houses with the utmost care and attention.
· Works closely with shelter staff to ensure maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner.
· Follows safety procedures and comply with organizational policies regarding maintenance and repairs.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· At least 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
· Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
· Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine effective solutions.
· Good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff and residents.
· Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and handle emergency maintenance situations as needed.
· Solid understanding of managing supplies, maintaining a clean environment, and handling occasional special projects.
