Host

Bethesda Country Club is hiring a Restaurant Host. This position is ultimately responsible for overseeing "day of" dining reservations in the Club's Restaurants. The Host is the first point of contact that Members and guests interact with to begin their dining experience. Greeting each Member and guest with a warm welcome and seating the dining party at a clean and properly set table is the main focus of this position. However, managing the restaurant seating chart, answering the phone and maintaining order at the host stand are essential supporting responsibilities. This position requires the ability to adapt, have flexibility, multi-task, demonstrate high attention to detail, show strong interpersonal skills and computer knowledge in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage "day of" reservations using Club reservation system and reservation email communication. Call/reply to emails on reservations to confirm needs and make sure that the Club has the correct Member name and Member number for each reservation. Review current Club policies with Members who are unaware and communicate further with Members if needed. Layout floor plan, assign server sections in a fair manner to ensure an optimal level of service. Assign reservations to tables based on Members' requests and needs.

• Greet each Member and guest with a warm welcome! Ensure that each table seated is clean and ready with the proper chairs and setting prior to seating the table. Escort the reservation to the proper table (and adjust if a request to move is communicated), distribute the necessary menus, explain the current specials or events that pertain to the table and introduce the server. Once a table is seated, assign tables in the POS system to the server under the correct Member number.

• Ensure that the restaurant(s) is/are ready for the Membership. Control the ambiance of the rooms by the lighting, music, cleanliness, and general appearance. Adjust the set-up of the room and tables based on reservation needs (moving tables, chairs, and umbrellas) and squaring up chairs to reflect seat number requirements. Report to the manager on duty if something is broken or doesn't look to standard.

• Answer the phone and provide proper information regarding hours of operation, reservation details, menu details and current or upcoming events, and taking and delivering to-go orders.

• Communicate reservations updates to co-workers and managers. Field and document Member comments, concerns, or suggestions to report to Manager on Duty. Stay up to date with weather conditions when Members and guests are seated outside. Alert co-workers and Managers on Duty if there is a threat of inclement weather and assist where needed to prepare for it, in compliance with the Club's Inclement Weather Standards.

Requirements:

• One or more years in host, front desk, or other customer service experience.
• Open scheduling availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent communication skills and a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
