Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit. This role is ideal for a nurse who excels in providing care to patients requiring a level of care between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a general medical-surgical unit. The candidate should have strong clinical judgment, proficiency in basic cardiac life support, and at least one year of RN experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Stepdown Unit, closely monitoring and managing patient conditions.
- Perform ongoing assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Administer medications, including those for critical conditions, and perform complex nursing procedures.
- Engage in patient education, discharge planning, and support to patients and their families.
- Respond to emergencies, rapidly recognizing changes in patient conditions, and taking appropriate action.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing degree program (BSN preferred).
- Enrollment in a BSN program is required within the first year of employment, with completion by the semester in which the four-year anniversary at [Hospital Name] occurs.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed to practice professional nursing as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
