What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Manager position at Bham Now?
We have an immediate opening for an experienced Social Media Manager to support Bham Now.
Our team is building the strongest local media brands in Alabama, including; Bham Now, Hville Blast and The Bama Buzz. Our social media platforms are a significant part of our growth. We publish content that celebrates the positive momentum of Birmingham. This includes organic ‘earned’ media and sponsored media. Responsibilities:
- Lead social media strategy based on real-time data as well as industry research.
- Lead, coach and oversee a team of social media producers.
- Create post social media content and oversee the content of other contributors. Must know best practices for posting, engaging and listening.
- Create and implement the editorial calendar, but be nimble enough to pivot based on breaking news.
- Create and implement action plans to grow followers and increase engagement.
- Oversee sponsored campaigns to ensure a positive experience for our customers and our audience.
Qualifications:
- You LOVE Birmingham and want to help others celebrate its greatness!
- Min 2-5 years of social media management experience with focus on Instagram.
- Proven ability to lead and nurture a team of creators.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, journalism, public relations or related.
- Confident, professional communication skills. This is important internally as well as externally with the public and with clients.
- You’re excellent at building rapport and know how to converse persuasively.
- Adept at analyzing and interpreting social media metrics.
- Strong copywriting skills for consumer based media.
- Strong visual acumen. Adept at taking and selecting visuals that our audience responds positively to.
- Proficient skills needed in the following: Reel creation, CapCut, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, email, Monday and Canva.
- Impeccable organization skills.
- You keep your cool under stress and are proactive at problem solving.
- You’re a team player and enjoy the reward of building something great.
