BHMG - Primary Care J'town
Full Time Mon - Friday Experienced Referral Coordinator
Under general direction, coordinates referral requests and communication of appointments using general clerical and customer service skills including, but not limited to, organizing requests from multiple locations, obtaining preauthorization's, and communicating status of appointments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates referral requests as ordered by the physician for diagnostic testing and specialty office appointments from multiple locations
- Obtains and accurately enters patients’ demographic and insurance information
- Verifies patients’ insurance
- Obtains preauthorization and notification information from payer sources and notes accordingly
- Documents information for all procedures and appointments in the patient’s chart and HPP
- Communicates procedure and appointment information to patient and requesting location
- Maintains patient confidentiality and corporate compliance guidelines and integrity
- Carries out additional duties as assigned
- Ensures positive customer relations interactions
- Manages difficult or emotional customer situations
- Responds promptly to customer needs
- Solicits customer feedback to improve service
- Responds to requests for service and assistance
- Performs data entry of all office and outside clinic charges daily
- Posts outside charges and hospital diagnostic tests
- Maintains patient privacy and adheres to HIPAA guidelines concerning PHI; maintains corporate compliance and integrity
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required or other formal education preferred
- Clerical and computer experience preferred
- Must have medical terminology background, along with referral experience
