The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the position of Audiologist-PEC.


Summary Description of Classification:
Under the supervision of administrative staff, provides school audiological services to students who have disabilities, suspected of having disabilities, or in need of specialized health care services.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Prerequisite knowledge and skills in Life science, behavioral Sciences, and Mathematics
  • Knowledge foundations of practice.
  • Knowledge of prevention and identification.
  • Competent in the prevention and identification of auditory and vestibular disorders.
  • Competent in the evaluation of individuals with suspected disorders of auditory, balance, communication, and related systems.
  • Knowledge of treatment(s) and possess competence in the treatment of individuals with auditory, balance, and related communication disorders.


Education, Training and Experience:
A Masters degree with certification in the area of Audiology.


Certificate and License Requirements:
Professional Certificate in Audiology and a Valid State of Georgia audiologist license issued by the Examining Boards Division of the Office of the Secretary State, O.C.G.A. Title 43, OR a valid Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).


Physical Demands:
Audiologists most often work with students in school settings in the district. The job is not physically demanding but does demand a deliberate focus on information.


Special Requirements:
To provide complete audiological services for students in Bibb County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides complete diagnostic audiological evaluations (including standard audiometry, OAEs, and
acoustic relex threshold testing), hearing aid and/or FM evaluations and auditory processing
evaluations to all students referred.

2. Provides annual re-evaluations.

3. Provides FM selection, fitting and verification (including Real Ear Measurement and Simulated
REM

4. Provides in-service training for teachers who have hearing impaired students in their classrooms.

5. Works in conjunction with all necessary outside agencies (such as Children's Medical Services,
DFACS, hearing aid vendors and otologists, etc.)

6. Provides training to D/HH teachers, regular teachers and other school personnel to do listening
checks, clean/maintain hearing aids and report problems with hearing aids and FM systems.

7. Participates in placement committee meetings.

8. Maintains accurate student records.
