We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Bilingual Dental Office Assistant fluent in Spanish and English to join our dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly in both Spanish and English, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments, confirm patient visits, and manage patient intake processes.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verifications, and assist with billing procedures using systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Meditech.
- Collect payments and process medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and familiarity with Medicare and other insurance plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date dental records within EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with front desk duties including answering multi-line phone systems, managing appointment scheduling via medical office management software, and handling patient inquiries with professional phone etiquette.
- Support clinical staff by preparing treatment plans, updating care plans, and assisting with documentation review.
- Manage filing of patient records, medical records management, and general clerical tasks such as typing reports and maintaining organized office files.
- Support office management tasks including insurance verification, appointment reminders, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dental receptionist or medical administrative support within a dental clinic or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is required to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and compassionate patient interaction skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing).
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with insurance verification processes is a plus. This role is vital in delivering high-quality administrative support within our dental practice while fostering a welcoming environment for all patients.
