What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher Assistant position at Big Sandy Area Community Action Program?
Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is seeking qualified candidates for a Substitute Head Start Teacher Assistant for Model City Head Start in Pikeville.
This position is part-time and will work on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities include:
* Helping children with personal tasks
* Assisting teacher with records of daily attendance and data collection
* Maintaining a safe and orderly environment for preschool children
* Instructing children in the practices of personal cleanliness, self-care, good manners and safety procedures
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED required
* Associate of Arts with classes in Early Childhood and current credentialing as a Child Development Associate or willingness to obtain preferred
* Knowledge of typical behaviors/expectations of three to five year old children
* Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds and the ability to communicate verbally with children to ensure safe supervision and appropriate instruction
* Physically capable of interacting with young children through running, chasing, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and standing
* Well-developed interpersonal skills
*Hire subject to Head Start policy on required background checks and drug screening.
* Valid driver’s license
