Description
The Shipping Crate Builder is responsible for achieving immediate and short-term shipping & receiving objectives laid down by the Shipping Supervisor. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required to meet department needs. This position reports directly to the Shipping Supervisor.

Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares finished product for shipping.
- Measures, cuts, and assembles wood pieces; builds crates, pallets, and boxes to ensure secure containment of product.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks/containers.
- Ensures all incoming shipments are delivered to designated area or person.
- Minimizes material waste.
- Responsible for care and preventive maintenance on the equipment in use.
- Follows all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
- Assists in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
- Follows instructions given by supervisor.
- Responsible for housekeeping in designated work area and throughout the facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Team Player.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must obtain forklift certification within 3 months (on-the-job training provided).
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16” and properly use various hand tools, including but not limited to radial arm saw, circular saw, nail and screw guns.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
- Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
- Prolonged periods working on feet.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify, and operate machinery and equipment.
- Visual acuity to read instructions and operate machines.
- Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110°F.
- Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
