What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Big West Oil?
This position completes engineering and project management assignments on small to medium capital projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, and execution in the field. Other responsibilities include:
- Uses common engineering concepts and industry practices to develop a scope of work for various projects varying in size and complexity.
- Conceptualizes, designs and starts up small to medium size projects to support and optimize unit operation.
- Estimates the cost and feasibility of a given project, supervises field activities and provides engineering assistance, direction and development assistance
- Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements)
- Solves technical problems related to projects
- Troubleshoots and updates report data for business unit(s)
- Maintains compliance with Environmental and Safety Standards (Consent Decree, PSM) for areas of responsibility
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Work experience working in a Petroleum Refinery or Petrochemical Plant.
- Work experience in project engineering
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiar with Piping and Instrumentation drawings
- Familiar with pressure vessel and piping design and/or installation.
- Familiar with project controls reporting for cost and scheduling
- Familiar with cost estimating systems and FEL process
- Experienced in technical drawing review.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Conversant with ASME and API codes and standards Familiar with small to mid-sized projects from inception to implementation.
- Experience working with vendors on equipment selection and purchase.
- Familiar with quote development, bid reviews, and contract adherence.
