Job Description Job Title: Cashier Department: Dietary Reports To: Dietary Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Prepared By: Human Resources Prepared Date: 3/26/12 Approved By: Dietary Manager Approved Date: 3/27/19 Revised Date: 10/30/2024 SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Dietary Manager, the Cashier is responsible for providing customer service, selling and displaying Dietary food items, and receiving payment from customers for goods or services in the cafeteria. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Cashier must exhibit an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Bigfork Valley. Welcome customers and answer questions. Operate the point-of-sale system as a cashier during specified hours. Make change, issue receipts, take in returns, and issue credit or cash for returns. Countdown till and make daily deposits. Request change for next day. Handle and resolve customer complaints and make suggestions to improve the customer experience. Listen and understand customer needs. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain knowledge of cafeteria items and prices. Assist in setting up and taking down meals. Maintain coffee and creamer dispensers. Roll silverware for hospital trays. Fill condiments, napkins, cups, sleeves, straws, and to-go containers. Keep all essential items stocked in cupboards. Stock coolers as needed. Wipe down all counters, tables, and equipment. Keep the serving area tidy. Assist in the main kitchen as needed. Update chalkboards/signs as needed. Maintain and promote a positive work environment. Wash dishes during downtime.
