This is a temporary, non–benefit-eligible, grant‑funded position that will end on or before February 27, 2026.
Responsible for applying in-depth knowledge, competencies, and skills in a clinical outcomes research environment. Validates quality of study data. Assists Principal Investigator(s)/Biostatistician Scientist in data capture and analysis. Conducts qualitative content analysis. Assists Research Nurse Navigator and Department to coordinate clinical staff adherence to implementation of project design. Contributes to preparation and editing of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation.
Essential Job Functions
• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
• Designs and conducts literature reviews and tables of evidence resulting in specification of constructs that lead to specific measures and data items. Maintains and organizes articles in reference management software.
• Assists Principal Investigator(s) with the development and identification of primary data collection instruments and methodologies to achieve quality data elements, including protocols for abstracting clinical record data on quality of care. Prepares surveys for data collection. Conducts participant surveys. Gathers data via survey and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assists department leadership team in planning/implementation of participant identification and recruitment for research studies and registries, and recruitment efforts for data collection, including the development of evaluation criteria for site participation. Assists Principal Investigator(s)/Data Analyst in database development to ensure accuracy of data elements. Assists Research Nurse Informaticist or Data Analyst to enter, collate, validate and tabulate data in preparation for analysis.
• Utilizes expert communication skills to engage, enroll, and educate patients in research and related registries, according to the protection of human subjects’ ethical standards. Conducts surveys and qualitative interviews. Implements qualitative database project software as indicated. Assists or collaborates in qualitative data analysis; summarizes reports of thematic analysis. Gathers field notes as needed to document patient responses to research or program.
• Validates the quality of study data to ensure participants’ adherence to all data collection and submission procedures. Validates data integrity and performs data editing. Manages collection of accurate data in a timely manner.
• Assists in the preparation and editing of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation. Conducts review of appropriate journals and publication requirements for submission.
• Facilitates content for department marketing and promotion of research projects. Collaborates with study sponsors as needed for designated studies or registries. Assists to develop and maintain external and internal department websites.
• Identifies need and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance. Identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate action.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree, Science background preferred
Experience
• Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience
Certifications and Licenses
• Human Research Certification or certification to be obtained within one (1) year of employment
