The BILSTEIN facility in Bowling Green, KY is the company’s first United States manufacturing operation and serves the automotive industry, automotive supply industry, as well as, the saw and tooling industry with tailor-made steel grades. BILSTEIN is looking for a qualified Process Engineer at its Bowling Green, KY facility.
Position: Process Engineer
Duties & Responsibilities
In collaboration with the plant manager, the process engineer supervises the entire operations. The process engineer assists the plant manager to coordinate operation‘s personnel, ensuring that plant safety, necessary permits, quality and on-time delivery targets are achieved at the lowest possible cost in these areas and interfaces with other departments. A special focus of the process engineer is to lead lean management activities and enable a proper report of the operation’s KPIs.
Specific duties include:
Safety/Environmental
- Ensure that operation’s employees and outside service employees are compliant with Plant Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations, conversant with OSHA and EPA/DEP rules and regulations and their application to industry.
- Follow up to ensure that Safe Working Procedures (SWP’s) and Risk Assessments for productions are available
- Control the execution of accident investigations involving production activities to establish root cause, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence in the described areas.
- Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained and actively implement 5S standards and rules.
Operations/Quality
- Production process knowledge about best working practices
- Continuous improvement of quality and productivity
- Ensure that customer demands are met
- Ensure quality control of pre and finished products including defect reporting, corrective actions and follow up on any issues.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize delays and maximize the efficiency of the operation.
- Deeper knowledge of lean principles is beneficial
- Being able to conduct group meetings for continuous improvement team
- Ensure that production requirements are met by effective shift and vacation planning.
- Through an effective performance evaluation process, provide training and development plans for production teams and work with the plant manager to ensure success.
- Hands-on mentality and strong communication skills are necessary
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical discipline is necessary. Will consider AS or Technical degree with equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1-2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in steel/metal manufacturing or similar.
- Knowledge of production and processing of cold rolled steel including raw material, production processes, quality control, cost control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of good would be an advantage.
- Engineering/Technology: Must have a knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying the principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
Strong organizational skills, must be PC literate (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word and Excel) and have a working knowledge of ER
