What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Grounds Maintenance position at Bismarck Public Schools?
This position works during the summer months through late fall/early winter until the first frost. Candidates must be comfortable with operating and towing large mowing equipment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
Job Goal: To provide necessary services throughout the Bismarck School District - servicing, maintaining, and repairing facilities, grounds, and equipment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Move and deliver various equipment.
- Operate light construction equipment such as light front-end loaders, backhoes, light industrial tractors, and equipment used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings, playgrounds, and other structures.
- Assemble and install athletic and other equipment.
- Care of athletic fields.
- Perform various unskilled tasks of a simple nature in order to assist other workers.
- Maintain grounds by performing any of the following: cutting trees; trimming and edging around walks, flower beds and walls; pruning shrubs and trees; spraying lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or pesticide; cleaning or sweeping parking lots; planting, watering, cleaning, painting, repairing, and other related tasks.
- General building repairs and maintenance.
- Responsible for security of materials and supplies.
- Operations of riding lawn mowers.
- Operation of painting equipment for parking lots.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Salary Grade: SK on the Support Staff salary schedule
