Position Summary:

Bituminous Roadways, Inc. (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Paving Superintendent to join our team.

The Paving Superintendent is an important leadership role that is expected to display a high level of professionalism. They are responsible for hiring, maintaining and training in competent crews. They map out daily and weekly paving schedules and communicate with estimators and customers when work will be completed. The Paving Superintendent works very closely with grading and milling supervision to create a schedule and ensure that the work is set up according to specs. They also set up equipment moves and trucking needs.

Our main office is located in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Inver Grove Heights, Shakopee, Columbus, and Minneapolis.

  • Maintain proper communication with customers and estimators so they know when work is to be completed.
  • Ensure Foremen are painting out areas with tonnage so crews can stay on quantity.
  • Communicate any questionable areas on job with Estimators, before proceeding.
  • Be a positive influence on others within the organization.
  • Be professional and respectful by leading with integrity and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Attend weekly scheduling meetings/schedule jobs.
  • Provide leadership and maintain a positive/safe working environment
  • Identify project conflicts and come up with a timely/accurate solution and communicate with field personnel
  • Provide crews with what they need, weekly and monthly schedules, info to plants daily and weekly and trucking to dispatch daily and weekly.
  • Get accurate measurements, tonnage and trucking for the next day s work.
  • Read and communicate work orders.
  • Order specific mixes for jobs.
  • Check completed jobs for quality, drainage and clean-up.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed field reports. Help manage customer expectations.
  • Attend pre-con meetings.
  • Make sure traffic control is ordered and placed prior to work.
  • Adhere to all BR safety policies and ensure employees are doing the same.
  • Quality management – ensure our final product is at or above BR and customer standards
  • Educating – constantly listening and learning from seasonal veterans and passing knowledge on whenever possible
  • Communication – Making sure information is given and received to appropriate personnel on a daily basis
  • Teamwork – having a good attitude every day. Crews morale goes a long way in the overall production and quality
  • Mentor and train in employees.

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • Computer skills
  • 3 years experience working with asphalt (patching and paving preferred)
  • Class A (CDL) Drivers' License w/clean driving record
  • Must have the ability to hear, speak and follow directions carefully.
  • Continually required to reach, pull, carry, grab, pull, and lift.
  • Must possess both good strength and good endurance as work performed in all types of weather conditions.

Other Requirements:

All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.

Salary : $65,400 - $82,800
