Black Hills State University is seeking applicants for a full-time Grounds Keeper.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be performed on the Spearfish and Rapid City campus as well as at the University President’s house.
DUTIES:
- Maintenance of lawns, nurseries and athletic fields with an emphasis in trees, flowers and shrubs, and Irrigation systems
- Maintenance of streets and sidewalks and the equipment used in day to day operations;
- Snow removal in the winter months;
- Loading, unloading, and moving furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance practices;
- Ability to recognize plant diseases and insect destruction;
- Work outdoors in all types of weather;
- Follow oral and written instructions;
- Perform heavy lifting and physical labor;
- Operate motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment;
- Interact professionally with co-workers and patrons;
- Have regular and reliable attendance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous landscaping experience;
- Occasional travel to Rapid City campus;
- Ability to obtain pesticide applicator license.
