Health Education part time positions

Part Time Health Education Teachers/Instructors Blackstone Academy Charter School Blackstone Academy has openings for health education instruction. This position could be taught by one or multiple people. Health/Wellness/ Prevention Educator #1: This teacher would teach two sections of ninth graders each semester. Semesters are approximately 18 weeks each ( September 3,2025-January 21, 2025 and January 28th 2026- June 3rd 2026). They would deliver lessons from Botvin’s Lifeskills Curriculum, a research based curriculum that incorporates substance use prevention and violence prevention while teaching the skills that build up resiliency. This program is done in collaboration with the Blackstone Valley Prevention Coalition. Pre/Post tests from the program would be implemented once per semester to evaluate progress and effectiveness of the program. Each class session is approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes long and the educator would need to be available from 8am to 11:40 am on Wednesdays. The teacher would be compensated for prep time as well. Health/Wellness Educatior #2: This position could be shared by two people and would involve teaching a mixed grade school day health class that covers materials in most of the RI Health Standards for high school. The class meets for between 60 minutes and 85 minutes depending on the day. The schedule is on alternating week and the class never meets on Wednesdays. Week A Times: Monday 12:40-1:40, Tuesday 8:20-9:35, Thursday 8:20-9:20, Friday 12:10-1:25. Week B Times: Mondays 12:40-1:40, Tuesdays 12:10-1:25, Thursdays 9:20-10:25, Fridays -no meeting. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development and Delivery: Develop and implement comprehensive health education lessons based on established standards. Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and materials to engage students. Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs. Assess student learning and provide feedback. Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning. Manage student behavior effectively. Foster a growth mindset among students and encourage their participation. Create group or individual student projects which encourage health promotion in the school and/or community. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and health information. Prepare and submit reports as required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Education or a related field. Rhode Island Teacher Certification in Health Education. If no applicants are found with this credential, other applicants can be considered. Strong knowledge of health education principles, curriculum development, and instructional strategies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
