(DO NOT APPLY THROUGH SCHOOL SPRING) - Submit a resume, cover letter, DESE certification via email to hroffice@valleytech.k12.ma.us This is a school year position, appointed by the Assistant-Superintendent-Director, which requires a person who can safely and effectively instruct students in accordance with industrial standards associated with the Carpentry/Construction Technology field, and in accordance with school policies, procedures, schedules and negotiated agreements. Vocational Instructors report directly to the department’s appointed Vocational Team Leader, and/or the school’s Vocational Director(s). Responsibilities and Duties: 1.Prepare for the delivery of appropriate instruction in accordance with department goals and objectives following proven procedures. 2.Organize and deliver instruction sequentially following the most current Massachusetts VTE Curriculum Frameworks outlined in the Carpentry/Construction Technology occupational area under the Construction Cluster and utilizing Competency Based Education methods and techniques as appropriate to individual student learning styles and abilities. Provide quality instruction relative to all aspects of Health and Safety as they relate to the Carpentry/Construction Technology Industry. 3.Provide instruction in the following areas of this trade: Industry Quality Standards, Design Process, Problem Solving, Equipment, Manufacturing, Measuring. 4.Provide the latest safety training to students and work with them to achieve OSHA certification in a timely manner while displaying and promoting safe working practices at all times 5.Use methods of instruction that are welcoming, motivating and student centered. 6.Initiate and participate in departmental efforts to integrate instruction 7.Attend curriculum development, departmental, staff, and other required meetings. 8.Participate in activities that promote the best interest of our students and our school. 9.Comply with rigorous standards for professional improvement to keep current with modern technology and pedagogy. 10.Cooperate with department Vocational Training Leader and/or Vocational Director(s) in fulfilling the mission of the department and institution. 11.Assist the Vocational Director(s) and/or Team Leader with tasks related to budget development, advisory committee logistics, curriculum development and tasks related to local, state and national assessments. 12.Maintain decorum and control of assigned students for the purposes of enhancing learning and insuring a safe and healthful environment in the classroom and throughout the school. 13.Abide by school procedures, rules and directives. 14.Update student records in the district’s student information system (SIS) and competency tracking system every trimester. 15.Must adhere to strict confidentiality practices and policies at all times when accessing and discussing sensitive student information. 16.Drive students to and from worksites and school events. 17.The candidate must be able to teach effectively within in-person and remote educational models. 18.Maintain department certification (if applicable). 19.The candidate must be able to inspire excellence, achieve consensus and respond effectively to the system’s mission with humor and enthusiasm. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1.Possess necessary approvals to teach Carpentry/Construction Technology as prescribed by The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, as put forth by Chapter 74, as amended by Chapter 731 and The Education Reform Act of 1993. 2.Possess skills that reflect current technologies, methods, and standards required to succeed as an Carpentry/Construction Technology Instructor 3.Demonstrate characteristics which clearly indicate an ability to relate positively to students and colleagues. 4.Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record in order to be authorized to operate Valley Tech’s vehicles. 5.Possess a personal history which is exemplary, supported with references. 6.Possess an OSHA 30 Hour certification for the Construction Industry 7.Strive to complete sixty (60) hours of professional development each year. 8.Possess a current license in trade area (Construction Supervisor). 9.Be physically and emotionally able to fulfill instructional responsibilities and duties. Compensation: 1.Based on credentials, approvals and experience, the successful candidate will be paid in accordance with the Agreement between the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School Teachers’ Association and the Blackstone Valley Regional School District Committee. 2.All other benefits provided by the Agreement apply.
