Youth Support Coordinator
A Youth Support Partner (YSP) is a member of the High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) team and someone who understands challenges experienced by youth and young adults with emotional and behavioral needs.
The goal of the YSP is to provide support and guidance to the youth throughout the process, during meetings and in developing individualized plans. YSPs will use their own life experiences to model for the youth how to navigate systems using their voice to meet their needs while developing their own natural supports.
The Youth Support Partner will also engage youth throughout Blair County in developing leadership roles in the System of Care to improve the mental wellbeing of youth.
Some responsibilities include:
- Engage youth and role model effective behavior to promote positive outcomes
- Work closely with the youth and HFW team to help them achieve their goals
- Assist youth in expressing their voice and choice and help with identifying and developing natural supports
- Help promote and strengthen healthy relationships
- Outreach to local youth through various activities
- Partner with youth organizations to identify opportunities to support youth
- Get a pulse on youth peer support and transition aged youth services in Blair County and understand barriers, gaps, and opportunities
Minimum Experience and Training:
- Have prior experience handling complex emotional and behavioral needs
- Have lived experience which allows you to possess a diverse understanding of the struggles youth with complex emotional needs endure
- Have successfully navigated child serving systems (mental health, child welfare, probation, education) WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCE DOES NOT COUNT
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Youth Support Partners need a high school education or GED
- Valid PA Driver’s License or reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass clearances upon hire including Criminal Record, Child Abuse and FBI
Benefits and Supplemental Information:
Hourly rate starts at $15.00, commensurate with experience. This position is full-time. Benefits based off of FT status.
