The Marketing Education Teacher will deliver engaging instruction in marketing, business, and entrepreneurship in alignment with Tennessee's Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards. This educator will prepare high school students for postsecondary education and careers in marketing-related fields, while also supporting participation in DECA and work-based learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct students in courses such as Principles of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Advertising, and Business Communications, using Tennessee CTE course standards.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate academic, technical, and employability skills aligned to the Tennessee Department of Education's approved standards.
- Utilize technology and project-based learning to support instruction in real-world marketing concepts and strategies.
- Prepare students for success in the workplace and postsecondary education by teaching career readiness skills.
- Facilitate student participation in DECA, the CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for marketing, including advising and coordinating events, conferences, and competitions.
- Collaborate with local businesses and industry partners to develop work-based learning opportunities, internships, and guest speaker sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and progress in compliance with school and state requirements.
- Participate in professional development required by the district and the Tennessee Department of Education to maintain CTE endorsement.
- Support school-wide initiatives, advisory committees, and continuous program improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution (preferably in Marketing, Business, or a related field).
- Certification: Valid Tennessee teacher license with an endorsement in Marketing Education.
- Background Check: Must pass a Tennessee Department of Education criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching high school or working in the marketing/business industry.
- Active involvement or leadership in DECA or similar CTSO.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to build student and community engagement.
- Familiarity with Tennessee's CTE frameworks and accountability standards.
