JOB TITLE:    Driver                                      

EMPLOYER:  BLG Logistics Inc. 

 

DEPARTMENT: Operations

 

REPORTS TO:  Team Leader

 

 

SUMMARY: Transports and delivers parts to the customers by applying knowledge of driving regulations and routes in the area. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives to and from designated locations up to 11 hours with and maximum of 14 hours total as DOT rules allow.
  • Maintains record of duty status according to state and federal regulations.
  • Performs pre-trip and post trip inspections.
  • Inspects truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submits written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip or tour of duty, if applicable.
  • Checks shipping papers to determine the nature of the load and verifies for accuracy.
  • Maneuvers vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic or inclement weather. This includes going forward and backing up long distances, around corners, and in/around very tight areas.
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
  • Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pickup or delivery parts.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records, and other records required by law. 
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operations of a motor vehicle.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess a valid drivers license and previous driving experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and maintain record of duty status, etc. 
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
  • Satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test.
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Email.

  • Primary responsibility to operate a cargo van and 26’ box truck on BLG and BMW property. 
  • Must be comfortable with backing truck up and operating in tight spaces. 
  • In addition needs to be able to operate a fork lift. 
  • May be needed to pick orders at peak demand times.  

1st Shift (Monday - Friday): 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

2nd Shift (Monday - Thursday): 2:00 P.M. – 10:30 P.M. (Friday): 2:00 P.M - 11:30 P.M

3rd Shift (Monday - Thursday)10:00 P.M. – 6:30 A.M.; (Sunday): 7:30 P.M. – 6:30 A.M.
