Armed Security Officer

Under general supervision and in cooperation with the customer,

patrols an assigned area to provide for the safety of the customer

and citizens legally entitled to be on the property, and to perform

related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Watches and patrols customers & property to defend against

damage, theft, or harm caused by intruders. Duties are

performed armed or unarmed depending on certification

and customerds request.

 Walks or drives around property to insure building or gate

security.

 Maintains a lookout at exits to guard against employee theft.

 Inspects identification of persons prior to entering restricted

areas.

 Monitors closed circuit television and alarm systems to

detect intruders and other violations occurring on assigned

property.

ABILITY TO:

 Obtain information and increase knowledge of persons and

conditions within an assigned area.

 Opens and closes facilities, ensuring that users have left the

premises. Reports security and general maintenance

problems to the proper authorities.

 Work with customers to identify problems within an assigned

area and designs strategies to address these problems.

 Anticipate crime trends and makes plans to break negative

patterns before they become established.

 Work with other department employees (commissioned and

non-commissioned) as well as public and private agencies in

designing and implementing problem-solving strategies.

 Share information with other department members.

 Read and apply department policies, rules, regulations,

instructions, laws and general literature pertaining to

security.

 Prepare written reports and memorandum summarizing

information.

 Testify in court regarding security duties.

 Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe

circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents.

Responsible for safety of self, others, materials and

equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK; MUST

BE ABLE TO CARRY A FIREARM; MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF

AGE; MUST HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, MUST HAVE A VALID

DRIVERS LICENSE.
