Position: Blue River Career Programs is seeking to hire a Criminal Justice instructor effective February 17, 2025.

Job Requirements:
· Valid Teaching License in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement -or- 6000 clock hours (3 years) in the past five years in the Criminal Justice industry and the ability to obtain a Workplace Specialist License.
· Must meet minimum credentialing requirements for Dual Credit Institution (bachelor’s degree required/master’s degree preferred)
· Possess successful experience of at least five years in the Criminal Justice industry and/or a degree in the Criminal Justice field.
Job Description:
· Display a deep knowledge of the subject matter and be able to pass this knowledge on to your students.
· Provide students with standards/skills based curriculum and training that is aligned to NLPS, leading to dual credit hours through IvyTech.
· Develop positive relationships with all key stakeholders while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative environment of education professionals to create the best career ready skills for our students.
- Be willing to continually strive to build a skill set that meets the needs of our students, educational partners, and potential employers.
· Work with administration, law enforcement experts, and community stakeholders to develop high quality hands-on projects and work based learning experiences.
· Adjust lessons based on differing needs of your students.
· Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
· Use effective classroom management skills and practices while conducting daily classroom activities for 10th-12 grade students in a multi period format.
· Maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment that promotes student learning.
· Facilitate an effective advisory committee for the program that meets at least twice a year.
· Providing an understanding of the sources of American criminal law.
· Providing an understanding of the elements of the correctional system based on the concepts of punishment, rehabilitation and reform.
· Explaining the role and function of policing in a democratic society as it pertains to the Constitution.
· Providing an understanding of the various operations involved in police work including, but not limited to, line and support functions, crime control strategies, search and seizure, arrest and interrogation.
· Providing an understanding of the best practices in corrections and sentencing as it relates to the criminal justice system.
· Providing an understanding of the major purposes of corrections and how they influence correctional policies.
· Providing an understanding of the function of jails, prisons, community corrections, intermediate sanctions, probation and parole.
· Providing a possibility for students to earn the ILEA Jail Officer certification and Dispacth Certification
· Provide employability skills that will prepare students for careers in the Criminal Justice industry.
· Make modifications to lessons based on knowledge of each student’s IEP and 504 plan.
· Adhere to all BRCP governing board policies and procedures. h education, training, and strategic consulting efforts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
