Your Role
Blue Shield of California is looking for a developer to join our IT Application Services team. The candidate will be the subject matter expert for the Health Data Strategy business service. This individual will build/develop integrations for various platforms including the Epic Payer platform and serve as the expert developer responsible for assuring real-time solutions built within the portfolio are highly secure and robust. This includes effective communication & influence of IT, business, and vendor partners to provide solutions that optimize cost, quality, security, and fit for purpose.
Your Work:
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop user interfaces, and application programs using technical specifications and design documents.
- Recommend improvements to the SDLC and other departmental processes.
- Improve the reliability and utilization of systems and applications.
- Monitor software configuration changes to anticipate and address the impact of data reliability and customer satisfaction issues.
- Coordinate sustaining support for 1-2 application platforms or business processes.
- As a technical resource responsible for establishing trusted relationships with business partners, internal IT organizations, other IT portfolio leaders, and Vendor partners.
- Effectively communicate approach, value, risk, alternatives, and status of goal progress with executive & senior management, business sponsors, and product managers
- Be experienced with relevant software development tools, industry protocols, troubleshooting & support procedures, monitoring & quality controls, and communication/documentation software.
- Be self-directed, work with limited management direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment.
- Apply significant knowledge of IT and healthcare industry trends.
Your Knowledge and Experience
- 7 years of hands-on design, coding, integration, and deployment experience in Cloud-based applications.
- SQL/PL-SQL knowledge
- API Integrations with Java and other tools
- Strong technical acumen & deep working knowledge of Agile Methods, Service Architecture, and enterprise Cloud Integration
- Strong ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create, translate, and execute technical deliverables.
- Healthcare experience
- Strong Unix skills using the command-line prompt, including navigating directory structures and file manipulation.
- Understanding of operating system concepts such as user and group ownership and file permissions, file system/volume group configuration, etc.
- Knowledge of a command shell (Korn, POSIX, Bourn, or C), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, and Perl
- Ability to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure the successful execution of critical maintenance procedures.
- Preferred experience setting up components in Microsoft Azure, working knowledge of Epic software, and virtualization platforms such as Citrix.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create, translate, and execute technical deliverables.

Pay Range: The Pay range is 118800.00 to 178200.00 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
