Job Title: Assistant Cook

Reports To: Dietary Supervisor
Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position it to assist all dietary positions where needed.
Occupational Skills:
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions
· Willingness to take responsibilities
· Ability to lift 50lbs or more
· Ability to walk alone, reach, turn, pivot and bend properly as needed
· Ability to exercise good judgement and tact in dealing with other staff, residents and resident families
· Good communication skills
· Flexibility in work schedule
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
· High school or general education diploma (GED)
· Knowledge of food preparation in large quantities
· Knowledge of hazards of improper food handling
· Knowledge of use and care of food service equipment
· Ability to calibrate thermometer
Essential Job Duties:
· Assist cooks in setting up and covering deserts
· Making supplements for 10am, 2pm and 7pm snacks
· Setting up resident food trays
· Wrap silverware
· Help to serve residents trays in dining room
· Bussing of table and trays
· Wiping off tables in dining room
· Clean up of work areas after each meal
· Assist the dishwasher with dishes
· Follow weekly cleaning schedule, including initializing and dating
· Responsible for logging food temperatures
· Stock storage room and refrigerated items
· Ability to read tray cards
· Attend mandatory in-service meetings
