SUMMARY: Perform general building maintenance and repair work.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to follow and complete instructions
- Ability to apply common sense when working on solutions
- Trouble-shoot and correct building or system failures
- Discernment to contact supervisor concerning transfer of work demanding time or skill beyond the scope of this department
- Pager duty required and some overtime as schedule demands
- Occasionally serve as backup for the supervisor in his absence
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Mechanical skills in variety of areas; willingness to learn other disciplines
- Expertise in one area is helpful, but not required
- Courteous communication skills with the clients, public and fellow workers
- Trade school helpful
- Some building and building repair experience
- Lack of experience compensated by high mechanical aptitude or additional education or certification
