Job Summary: The Director of Sales is responsible for driving sales growth, increasing market share, and increasing sales department profitability. This role involves actively managing the sales team, developing and implementing effective sales strategies, utilizing CRM software (customer relationship management), communicating factory promotional programs, working with the factory OEM and providing training and support to the sales team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve company sales targets, expand market share and increase sales department profitability.
- Recruit, hire, and train sales personnel, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Monitor and analyze sales metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Increase utilization and maintain a robust CRM system to track sales activities, customer interactions, and sales performance.
- Conduct ride-along training with sales team members to provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to those it will benefit.
- Plan and conduct educational training covering sales techniques, sales goals, factory goals, factory promotions, factory financing plans, leasing and product knowledge.
- Visit all company locations regularly to interact with store team, sales team and customers to ensure alignment with sales goals and customer satisfaction.
- Lead and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and team goals, fostering a high-performance sales culture.
- Actively manage direct reports to provide guidance and accountability.
- Continuously monitor and assess the progress of the sales department identifying deviations from sales goals and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a team approach for the company and employees’ success.
- Be aware of and react to competitor pricing and strategies.
- Develop and maintain all sales efficiency and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Manage salespeople and the sales contracts department, ensuring credit applications and sales contracts are submitted accurately, completely and reviewed and executed efficiently and timely.
- Oversee purchasing and logistics to ensure correct inventory levels for sales demand.
- Keep aged inventory to a minimum.
- Monitor accuracy of inventory cycle counts.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred).
- Experience in managing sales department people, financials, profit and loss statements, budgets, KPIs (key performance indicators) and full sales operations.
- Background in construction and agriculture compact equipment a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of customer base and equipment applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Honesty and integrity required.
- Good Excel, Word and presentation software skills.
- Prior use of CRM system a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, organizational and people management skills.
- Valid CA driver’s license and clean DMV record, with the ability to travel as needed.
- Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships and coach the sales team.
- Flexibility and availability required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, maintain balance, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
