Position Summary
Based in Berlin, CT, the Pyrometry Technician will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
- Completes temperature uniformity survey documentation and review.
- Responsible for the inventory of consumable maintenance supplies pertaining to calibration and inspection.
- Performs system accuracy checks under the direction of the Quality Manager.
- Reads and understands the Quality Manual and related procedures.
- Bring any irregularities, discrepancies, or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
- This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
- Monitor and maintain instruments, including instrument recall, instrument calibration, monitor and maintain process control testing, temperature uniformity surveys, quench effectiveness, monthly mechanical testing, surface contamination test, carb/de-carb test, IGA and IGO test, burnouts, and leak ups.
- Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.
- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident cardholders.
- Education – High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in thermal processing, metallurgy, customer specifications, etc.
- Blueprint reading preferred.
- Must possess strong verbal communication skills, a professional and patient style in dealing with customers and staff.
- Must be precise and detail-oriented.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Must have knowledge by experience or training of basic math.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.
- Must be able to work in a sitting and/or standing position or extended periods in an industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
