Job Description / Duties
Successfully assist physician with patient care which includes but is not limited to the following:
· Demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment.
· Provide compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience.
· Coordinate patient care as directed by physician, company standards and policies.
· Answer, triage and address all incoming messages, prescriptions, labs, imaging and any other communication that comes into the office via the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
· Answer, triage and return all patient phone calls/voice messages regarding any and all clinical concerns/questions, as appropriate.
· Answer, triage and return all phone calls/voice messages from pharmacies, labs, imaging, therapy, and other physicians / providers, as appropriate.
· Refill all non-controlled, routine prescriptions via EMR in a timely and efficient manner.
· Assist with verification that all ordered laboratory, diagnostic tests and requested prior medical records are entered into the EMR prior to the patient’s visit.
· Assist with preparing new patient consultations and follow up after consultation; including obtaining prior medical records
· Assist Front Office staff in triaging any medical concerns or questions from patients or caregivers.
· Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);
· Interview patients and record their medical history and physical condition; including the ability to obtain patient vital signs.
· Assist physician as needed, including office procedures.
· Communicate with and educate patients and their families; particularly at the end of each visit, reviewing the education provided by the physician during the visit.
· Obtain prior authorization for prescription medications and office procedures
· Assist at the front desk with answering the phones, scheduling and checking patient’s in as needed.
· Maintain patient exam rooms: including cleaning / wiping down equipment and furniture daily
Maintain the following Qualifications / Skills
· Medical knowledge as it relates to neurology and specifically movement disorders
· Ability to use technologies such as electronic medical records (EMR), word-processing software, spreadsheets, online calendars, and scheduling
· Knowledge, understanding, and ability to use medical terminology, including ICD10 and CPT coding, with awareness and knowledge of annual changes

Education and Experience Requirements
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Certificate from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification program
· Experience with medical terminology and some knowledge of ICD - 10 and CPT coding
· Experience using current technologies such as word-processing software, spreadsheets, online calendars, and scheduling
· Proficiency with Electronic medical records (EMR)
Maintain the Following Certifications
· Current BLS certification
· HIPPA compliance training
· OSHA compliance training
· HR training as required by the Federal and State laws and requested by third party HR company
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
- EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
