What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Full-time Care Center Support Team position at Bonney-Watson?

 
Summary:  

Provides overnight assistance to the Funeral Directors/Embalmers in transportation and transfer of deceased to Mortuary for preparation. Will work an overnight schedule of Wednesday - Sunday from 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM with the expectation of covering at least 2 additional on-call nights per month.Training for the first initial two weeks will be during day time hours of 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides transport and transfer of deceased from residential homes, hospitals, nursing homes, medical examiner’s office or other locations to the Mortuary or airport.
  • Acts as overnight on-call duty team member to respond to 1st calls.
  • Provides funeral-related errands as needed.
  • Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of all funeral service and transfer vehicles.
  • Maintain highest level of professionalism in all areas including dress and personal hygiene. 

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following when not performing the tasks listed above.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide janitorial/custodial support:  cooler cleaning, cleaning of church trucks, vacuuming/sweeping of areas, emptying trash from main building, light dusting and changing burnt out light bulbs if easily accessible.
  • Assisting with care center logs and schedules: call time tracking log, CCS schedules, cooler temp logs, decedent cooler logs to make sure they are up to date and accurate.

  • Must be available to work consistent overnight shifts.

  • Good map reading skills.

Education/Experience

High school graduate or equivalent six months to one year of related experience and/or training in a direct customer service role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 

Computer Skills

Knowledge of basic computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Certificates and Licenses

Valid Washington driver's license.  Current Hepatitis B vaccination is required.

Professionalism at all times is required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.  

The employee must occasionally lift and/or pull more than 100 pounds.  

The employee must strictly observe WISHA requirements; possess the ability to wear required safety equipment for up to 2.5 hours at a time; and may come in contact with deceased with contagious diseases.

  • Paid Sick and Safe Leave Policy: Hourly and exempt employees accrue paid sick leave in accordance with state and local laws.
  • Holidays: 8 paid days, but open during certain holidays as stated below:
    1. Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary: Open on all holidays except New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
    2. Satellite Locations: Closed on all holidays except President’s Day and Veteran’s Day when they will maintain regularly scheduled business hours.
    3. Employees who work holidays may take another day off with prior approval.
