What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Strategic Initiatives position at Book of the Month?
The Manager, Strategic Initiatives will lead the evaluation and development of new products, services, and other growth opportunities at Book of the Month. The successful candidate will possess a combination of three skills: (a) Analytical customer/market research, (b) Product management, and (c) Growth and marketing. This role will require you to both analyze and execute, pivoting between the two iteratively to develop a product that addresses a marketing need and grows our business.
About the Role:
- Act as the project manager on multiple initiatives across different aspects of the business to drive growth, including:
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans;
- Coordinate meetings and working sessions with project stakeholders;
- Proactively communicate important information across the team;
- Anticipate and mitigate potential issues and risks;
- Monitor and report results.
- Evaluate new business development opportunities, including:
- Conduct market research and opportunity analysis;
- Prepare business models analysis;
- Develop detailed project plans to bring new opportunities to life, working cross-functionally with product, engineering, finance, operations, and creative teams;
- Summary your work in concise, yet thorough written documents and plans.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years experience in consulting or banking and product management or marketing at a growth oriented company.
- eCommerce, consumer brands or product management is a plus
- Highly analytical, detail oriented, and resourceful
- Able to prioritize work effectively while juggling multiple tasks
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ready to work hard.
- Interested in commercial fiction, book clubs, and ecommerce.
