Job Summary:
****This position is intended for current educators who are looking to make extra money during after-school hours. You can expect to work 7-12 hours per week.*****
We are seeking knowledgeable and experienced Tutors to join our team. As a Tutor, you will provide one-on-one instruction to students in math and reading, primarily and, occasionally science and social studies. Your role will involve assessing students' needs, developing personalized lesson plans, and delivering engaging and effective tutoring sessions.
Responsibilities:
- Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to identify areas for improvement
- Develop personalized lesson plans based on students' individual needs
- Provide instruction and guidance in math and reading to students in various grades.
- Utilize effective teaching with research-based practices, strategies and resources to engage students.
_ Communicate effectively with parents and students.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback on areas of improvement
- Assist students with homework assignments and exam preparation
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions
Requirements:
- Patience and empathy when working with students of all ages and abilities
- Must have a laptop or tablet to use in sessions and for Zoom sessions. Most sessions will be in person.
- Must be comfortable working with materials that have Christian themes and references.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (or currently pursuing a degree)
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience
- Familiarity with phonics instruction, the science of reading and Orton Gillingham methods.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
