What We Are Looking For
Required
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (e.g., social work, health education, public health, psychology, criminal justice) or a related field
- Two (2) years of experience in human services or a related field (such as social work, health education, public health, psychology, or criminal justice)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted
- Master’s or advanced degree.
- Experience with domestic violence or sexual assault victim advocacy services, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and work effectively with students, faculty, and other constituencies.
- Ability to operate calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to sexual and relationship violence issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with individuals in difficult situations.
- Must be student-service focused with good listening skills.
- Ability to make independent judgements, problem solve, apply discretion, and consult when appropriate.
- Working knowledge of current literature and best practices regarding sexual assault and interpersonal violence, including federal regulations (Title IX, and Campus Security Act).
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Power Point, Access, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to serve in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 crises support for the Purdue Community and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Must have a driver’s license and reliable vehicle to transport students to appointments as needed.
