What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation & AI Delivery Lead (MSP) position at Bowman Williams?
Automation & AI Delivery Lead (MSP)
Hybrid | Columbia, MD (2–3 days onsite)
$80,000–$105,000 base bi-annual bonus
We’re a long-standing Managed Service Provider (MSP) serving SMB clients across the Mid-Atlantic with a growing national footprint. Family-owned, multi-generation, and values-driven, this organization operates with transparency, trust, and a genuine belief in doing the right thing—for clients and employees alike. Innovation isn’t a buzzword here; it’s part of how the business grows, delivers value, and stays ahead.
This role is different from a traditional MSP position. We’re building an Automation & AI function that will become a core delivery engine and revenue driver for the business. This leader will guide a small but growing team, bring structure and metrics to automation delivery, and help design Microsoft-based automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve both internal operations and client outcomes.
MSP experience is required to move forward.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead day-to-day execution for an Automation team of 4–6 engineers (mixed onshore/offshore, mixed skill levels)
- Run daily huddles, manage workload prioritization, and keep multiple initiatives moving forward
- Own delivery accountability: KPIs, dashboards, reporting, escalation triage, and assignment
- Design and document workflows, process maps, and delivery artifacts (light architecture and data flow documentation)
- Establish governance and best practices for scalable, secure automation solutions
- Build and maintain internal documentation and knowledge bases around Microsoft automation platforms
- Support reporting and insights using BrightGauge and/or Power BI
- Partner with leadership on automation strategy that supports efficiency, scalability, and revenue growth

- 3 years in a technical analyst, systems analyst, automation, or AI-adjacent role
- 1 year of people leadership or proven leadership through initiatives/projects
- Strong communication skills—able to clearly explain what was built, why it matters, and how it works
- Metrics-minded and organized; comfortable owning dashboards, reporting, and delivery cadence
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Copilot Studio, Azure AI / Cognitive Services
- AI or automation solution deployment in real environments
- CloudRadial administration or client-portal automation
- Microsoft certifications (PL-200, AI-102, automation certs)
