What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Boyer & Ritter?
Boyer & Ritter is growing our finance team and seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to work alongside our CFO.
The Assistant Controller will support and assist the CFO in managing the financial activities and operations of Boyer & Ritter including financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, operational support and process improvement.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Post ACH, credit card and e-check payments
- Post electronic withdrawals
- Maintain daily cash balance
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Review account coding of Accounts Payable invoices for accuracy
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing
- Post LIFO expense & review related invoices
- Assist with and back up on all payroll related matters
- Maintain ADP payroll data, assist employees with questions, logins, pay statements and general questions.
- Back-up to the CFO for financial statement preparation.
- Assist in preparation of annual insurance renewal questionnaires.
- Assist in preparation of industry surveys
- Assist in preparation of annual tax returns
- Maintain excel spreadsheets for medical and life and disability insurance
- Assist in annual audit of firm’s 401k plan
- Compare firm data to industry benchmarks
- Develop forecasting tools to automate financial data analysis
- Work on special projects as directed by the CFO or Executive Committee
- Maintain chart of accounts in CCH and Caseware
- Assist in preparing and maintaining annual budget templates, including updating current information for the next budget year’s preparation.
- Run monthly financial reports as required by the Executive Committee or Principals
- Manage AR collection process and contacts clients regarding late payments
- Assists employees by answering questions relating to billings, accounts receivable or work in process
- Serve as back up for the Firm Accountant by posting all payments received, depositing to the bank, running reports and posting all accounts payable invoices and issuing checks
Boyer & Ritter is seeking candidates with a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Ideal candidate will possess 3 years' experience in an assistant controller role, possess a CPA designation, have previously worked in a professional services industry. Must have strong technical knowledge working with spreadsheets, databases, financial and operating software applications.
