Berlin-Boylston Regional School District is a great place to work! We seek a long-term OT substitute beginning in October 2025 to work with elementary students. The daily rate for this position is $300.19. Occupational Therapist QUALIFICATIONS: 1.A minimum three years experience in Special Education. 2.Training, experience, knowledge in disability areas, interpretation of testing reports and behavioral interventions. 3.Knowledge of Special Education laws/regulations at the state and federal level. 4.Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects, carry out research and develop programs. 5.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate successfully with diverse groups of people; supervisory experience preferred. 6.Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through writing and oral presentation. 7.MA Licensure REPORTS TO:Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Building Principal(s) JOB GOAL: The Occupational Therapist supports student’s academic achievement and social participation by helping students develop and maintain the skills needed to participate in school routines, including non-academic time. They help children fulfill their role as students and prepare them for college, career, and community integration. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluation and Placement: 1.Coordinates occupational therapy services with classroom teachers, special education staff and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students. 2.Assesses the motor, visual-motor and sensory-motor functioning of students referred for special education evaluation. Helps determine the need for occupational therapy services. 3.Maintains an accurate record of therapy sessions, consultations and other pertinent activities. 4.Advise staff, students and families on adaptive equipment to assist students with daily activities. 5.Provide training to special education paraprofessionals, teachers, students and families, as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the student’s physical, motor and sensory functioning. 6.Maintains an inventory of District OT assistive equipment and provide training on equipment as needed. 7.Provides training to special education paraprofessionals, and others as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the student’s physical, motor and sensory functioning. 8. Maintains an inventory of District OT assistive equipment. Evaluating results and progress of occupational therapy on clients. 9.Provides supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) when needed. 10.Working knowledge of the principals, practices and regulations and applicable district policies and procedures. 11.Maintains professional knowledge through ongoing professional development in order to stay current with the best treatment programs available. 12.Complies with federal, state, and local certification requirements. 13.Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services may assign. Reports/Mandates: 1.Ensure student records are maintained and kept current. 2.Ensure that all legal timelines are followed. 3.Complete all required IEPs and related documents. 4.Collaborate with building principal to ensure procedural rights of students and parents are implemented. 5.Serve as liaison and consultant to parents, special education staff, regular education staff, building administration, central office administration, and related service staff. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Per Teachers contract. EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Pupil Personnel
