Description
Primary Function: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day care of our members and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in Pre-Employment Training.
- Work as a team with other staff members to ensure all members are well cared for and supervised at all times.
- Maintain accurate documentation on site for DHS.
- Promote and stimulate interest and participation of all members in activities.
- Greet parents and/or care providers at drop-off and pick up each day. Remember that you are representing our program and act accordingly. Answer any questions they have or direct them to a supervisor.
- Assist the planning and implementation of a daily programing that will meet the needs of the members in attendance; set up the program, project, and activity areas as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for members.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings and on-going trainings.
Qualifications
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- 18 years old
- Prior experience with youth, preferred
- Ability to obtain at least 15 hours of training through the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education (DCCECE) Professional Development Registry or Department of Education.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement recreational activities.
- Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Demonstrate organizational, staff, and project management abilities.
Physical Requirements:
High energy level. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature and flexible. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgement. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
