This position earns a competitive salary starting at $37,212 - $48,254. Spanish speaking staff are eligible for an 8% salary increase. First-year employees receive 11 paid holidays; 80 hours paid flexible time off; 1 personal paid day; 40 hours paid sick time; 90% paid employee health plan; 403(b) Retirement Plan with match; Flexible Spending Account; Life/AD&D; Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and our agency qualifies for Student Loan Forgiveness. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FOSTER CARE COORDINATOR

A Foster Care Coordinator is a dynamic position, working both on-site alongside program staff and in the community supporting foster parents in their homes. You may spend your day....

Checking in with program staff about foster parent support and coaching needs for the week.

Meeting with the training department team to discuss upcoming training topics, scheduling guest trainers or developing content to support parents at monthly trainings.

Driving to foster family homes to visit and provide training on documentation requirements.

Debriefing on the phone with foster parents about recently challenging behavior that happened with a youth in their home and supporting them with new or alternative behavioral management techniques.

Reviewing curriculum and prepping with your co-trainer for an upcoming training for prospective foster parents that covers trauma-informed parenting and program requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FOSTER CARE COORDINATOR

  • Master's degree in social work or closely allied field or a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, and two years' experience in the care of youth; with one year increasing responsibility in leadership duties.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Experience applying trauma-informed care, behavior management, and/or crisis de-escalation skills into practice with children, youth and/or young adults.
  • Lived expertise in any aspect of foster care.
  • Experience coaching or supporting parents of high-needs kids including personal parenting experience.
  • Comfortable creating a supportive interpersonal relationship with families.
  • Ability to initiate challenging conversations including providing feedback about parenting styles.
  • Flexible schedule that allows for work hours that routinely include two evenings most months to attend foster parent meetings and up to six Saturdays per year to provide day-long training.
