Primary Function:
The Membership Specialist runs the front desk and is responsible for greeting members, guests, and volunteers. The Specialist provides the first impression for anyone who walks through our doors. In addition to being responsible for various administrative tasks, he/she interacts with youth throughout the day and plays a vital role in providing mentoring and support to our youth to help them achieve their fullest potential.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Greet, register, and interact with members as they enter the Club and direct them to the appropriate room. Ensure members sign out on departure.
- Greet and interact with parents including sharing special event information, following up on permission slips, and translating for the Unit Manager as needed in discussions with parents regarding disciplinary situations, etc.
- Greet and register all visitors, guests, and volunteers and ensure they are directed to the appropriate room/individual.
- Answer phone inquiries.
- Effectively use and work in the Membership Tracking System to enter new member applications; and enter program attendance daily.
- Implement and enforce all Club rules and policies with the members. Model and encourage positive and constructive behavior to all members.
- Collect and record all membership fees. Keep appropriate documentation for audit purposes.
- Create and maintain files for all membership applications. Update member contact information and data as provided and on time.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings and training.
- Actively promote the Club, services and programs, promotions, and discounts.
- Handle guests' questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
- Update and track Club site event calendar and parent communication boards including marquee, bulletin boards, and outdoor signage.
- Support Unit Manager as needed with various administrative tasks/projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- High School Diploma or GED, minimum age of 18.
- Efficient typing, filing, and data input skills.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior; experience working with youth ages 6-18 a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must pass a drug and background check and provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
The Membership Clerk will be a part-time employee of the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County and could be hired on a contract basis only for the term of a grant-funded program.
