This position is responsible for direction of the Playground Club team and program. This position is also responsible for the administrative and safety functions of the programs department.
Direction of Playground Club Program
- Manage, coach and support Playground Club (PC) Youth Development Professional (YDP) staff at various school sites.
- Interview all PC YDP candidates and make hiring recommendations.
- Conduct PC YDP orientation.
- Conduct monthly training for PC YDPs.
- Oversee performance of all PC YDPs, including conducting regular performance evaluations.
- Manage PC YDP schedule, oversee floaters and assist on-site when needed.
- Create system for collection of ongoing site level program updates from Playground Club YDP’s.
- Collect all required documentation to operate program and provide information to leadership and PG YDP-staff members.
- In partnership with Director of Wellness and Athletics, manage school district and city partnership and renewal of partnership.
- Address concerns, questions, issues of parents and or teachers.
- Collaborate with the Director of Wellness and Athletics around program needs as well as district, city and parent concerns or issues.
- Develop and adapt injury prevention methods and reporting processes and procedures.
- Develop, organize and facilitate Playground Club YDP staff training
- Model SMBGC core values, program implementation, group management, and rapport building strategies for school-site staff.
- Conduct regular program observations & data reviews to ensure safety and quality.
- Monitor and evaluate PC service to ensure safety of members and appearance of the school site at all times.
- Support Athletics Department Administration as needed.
Program Administration
- Oversee systems, design and optimization of KidTrax youth program participation database for Playground Club.
- Oversee all administrative processes and procedures related to program management of Playground Club.
- Oversee Playground Club annual compliance of safety standards such as: health and fire inspections, audits, supporting program leadership and HR department to develop, maintain and implement safety policies, procedures, drills and staff trainings.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to promote SMBGC programs and assist in resolving problems
Requirements:
SKILLS AND COMPTETENCIES REQUIRED:
o A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
o A minimum of 3 years of general office experience desired.
o Non-profit experience is a plus
o Experience in database management system desired.
o Proficiency using MS Office and Zoom is required. Experience with Publisher, Canva and Adobe Photoshop a plus.
o Understanding of how to run basic office equipment such as photocopiers and scanners
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Work Ethic/Organization
o Organized and self-motivated
o Experience working independently, managing time efficiently, and setting own schedule
o Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize to meet goals and objectives
o Experience working with youth and adults of diverse identities and backgrounds
o A team player who enjoys working with others and aligning to achieve higher strategic goals and objectives for youth.
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent standing and walking
- Ability to speak clearly and understand oral communication
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds of supplies or equipment waist height)
- Ability to consistently work a twelve-month position, including evening and weekend work as required
- Must have reliable transportation to all work-related activities including evening and weekend work
- A valid California State Driver’s License
- Other duties as required
