PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Advancement Coordinator will be a dedicated early-career development professional who can inspire the vast community of supporters who fundraise and advocate on behalf of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.
The position reports to the Director of Advancement and will serve as the primary liaison to the Guild Board, planning and executing event strategies for their signature event, Lawn Ball. The Advancement Coordinator will also provide general support to the Advancement team to ensure BGCCs fundraising success.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Proactively manage the Guild Board through facilitation of board meetings, staffing its committees and initiatives, and providing superior service and communication to its members.
- Foster a strong working relationship with Guild Board members and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee planning, logistics, and fundraising for the Guild Boards Annual Lawn Ball and ensure the achievement of revenue goals.
- Manage a limited portfolio of other internal events as assigned, including First Look for Charity.
- Provide general support to the Director of Advancement and the Advancement Manager to ensure the success of other signature fundraising events, including the Youth of the Year Competition & Dinner, the Womans Boards Summer Ball, and the Great Futures Golf Outing.
- Collaborate with Marketing colleagues to develop event collateral and create comprehensive pre- and post-event communications, including sponsorship outreach, gift acknowledgements, and post-event impact reporting.
- Support the sponsorship and auction fulfillment processes.
- Track revenue and expenses, secure pledged revenue, and submit vendor payment requests in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- A minimum of 1-2 years nonprofit experience, specifically in fundraising, events, volunteer management, or equivalent experience
- Exceptional project management and strong customer service skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to interact in a firm but highly collaborative fashion
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented team environment
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies
- Knowledge of accessing and managing donor database; experience with Raisers Edge or other similar fundraising software is helpful but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal internal office environment. Occasional need to travel to club locations in Chicago. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
