Title: Child Care Program Director
Reports to: Miller Club Director
Salary Range/Benefits: $45,000 annual salary, DOE. Bonus potential, paid leave, medical and other insurance benefits, 401(k), discounted childcare

Hours: 40 hours/week; Monday - Friday. Some off-site, weekend, and evening work required
Status: Salary non-exempt

The Child Care Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs for the childcare program. The Child Care Program Director also provides leadership, supervision, and evaluation to program and volunteer staff. They manage budgets, and control expenses as assigned; maintain and seek out positive relationships with community partners, school
administration, school district partners, and Club parents. The Child Care Program Director is also responsible for administrative tasks such as monthly program reporting, grant management, grant reporting, and frequent program evaluations.

Responsibilities of the Child Care Program Director:

• Works with Club Director on hiring of staff (interview process).
• Trains staff on their job responsibilities, and expectations and provides tools and coaching for success.
• Conducts annual staff evaluations.
• Arrange and facilitate training as needed or requested.
• Assists staff in planning and implementation of programs.
• Creates and maintains excellent rapport with client families, child care licensing, school district personnel/administration, and community supporters.
• Offers programs that address the needs and interests of child care licensing, families, and the community.
• Creates and maintains a structured schedule for staff, youth, and parents.
• Plans programs that meet the goals, objectives, and required grant requirements.
• Plans and facilitates national programs as required.
• Responsible for maintaining the budget set for the program.
• Responsible for managing expenses and managing the supply budget.
• Provide guidance to all youth to help them make appropriate choices.
• Deal with inappropriate behavior with positive discipline.
• Create safe environments for all youth.
• Keep program spaces clean and organized.
• Participates in regular meetings, coaching, and training with a supervisor
• Coordinates weekly meetings with staff for updates.
• Maintains adequate data collection, Calendars, Monthly Reports, Attendance Data, Club Reports, and Membership Data.
• Complete all paperwork as needed in a timely manner.
• Ensure the facility maintains compliance with all child care licensing requirements Monitor employee licensing including collection and submission of fingerprints and payments to the Department of Health.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Two-year college degree or, at least, two years related experience in youth service and management
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to the development of youth specifically between the ages of 6-12.
• Understanding of group dynamics as well as Youth Development Strategies, Mission Statement, Core Beliefs, and Core Characteristics.
• Demonstrated understanding of the principles of effective guidance and discipline for youth and adults.
• Has proven ability to manage, motivate, and supervise subordinates.
• Must be knowledgeable in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Other Requirements:
• Must Have a childcare certification (CCP, CDA, NAC, or similar)

Organization Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must be able to drive 15-passenger vehicles and have a good driving record
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
• Be CPR and First Aid certified, or able to obtain certification
• Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet

Other Requirements

• Must Have one of the following qualifications

o A bachelors, or graduate degree from an accredited college with successful completion of at least 12 semester credit hours of early childhood development courses
o Valid proof of a level 8,9,10 Utah Early Childhood Career Ladder certification issued by the Utah Office of Child Care or Utah Child Care Professional Development Institute
o A currently valid national certification such as a Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) issued by the National Child Care Association, a Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition, or other credential that the licensee demonstrates as equivalent to the Department.
o A currently valid National Administrator Credential (NAC) issued by the National Childcare Association, plus the following: Valid proof of successful completion of 12 semester credit hours of early childhood development courses from an accredited college.
