Opportunity Overview: Nutrition Coordinator
The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for all elements of food preparation and serving child sized snack portions per day. Duties will include menu planning, food preparation, purchases, inventory, kitchen and laundry sanitation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create rotating menus which meet USDA nutritional requirements and WAC standards
- Submit monthly CACFP reports to Director of Program Services & Training with the following information; monthly menu, meal tally records, monthly attendance by name and receipts for food purchased during the previous month
- Responsible for tracking daily meal counts/meals served, keeping record of supplies purchased for the food program (receipts) and retaining records for no less than 3 years
- Responsible for keeping and distributing an up to date list of children with dietary or food allergy restrictions; work with families in planning alternative foods served
- Coordinate food preparation up to twice per day
- Assist the Program Director and club staff in developing special event menus and classroom food related projects
- Assist in planning and teaching topics related to health and nutrition
- Keep updated supply lists for purchasing
- Assume responsibility for food, kitchen and laundry inventory
- Lead the work of kitchen assistant or volunteer as directed
- Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and laundry
- Ensure foods meet food quality standards provided by WA State Department of Health
- Maintains BGCKC Healthy Lifestyle guidelines
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily positive contact with club staff, volunteers, club members, and supervisor. Attend staff meetings.
External: Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media networks.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- 1 year experience in nutrition and food service
- Knowledge in the nutritional needs of children
- Knowledge of broader cultures and ethnic foods
- Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word
- Ability to track purchasing and inventory
- Experience with cooking for large groups
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Food Handlers Permit.
HOURS: Variable Part-Time, less than 30 hours per week. Varies depending on program need.
FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt Position
HOURLY RATE: $23.50 per hour

This position works in a kitchen setting, and the noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, i.e. copier toner, cleaning chemicals.
