The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South is the preeminent youth development organization in Southeastern Massachusetts, serving more than 2,500 youth annually from infancy to adulthood from nearly 50 zip codes at our Clubhouses in Brockton and Taunton, 100-acre Camp Riverside property, and at several community extension sites across the region. The Director of Marketing & Communications, reporting to the Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer, develops and implements Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South's strategic marketing and communications plan to fuel the growth and impact of our fundraising efforts and the reach of our programs. The Director of Marketing & Communications will possess exemplary relationship-building, project management, and communications skills, and demonstrate leadership while employing an entrepreneurial, collaborative, team-centered, and results-oriented approach to leading and driving the production of high-quality marketing assets, compelling campaigns, and engaging communications to advance our mission and brand through visual and written storytelling.
The Director of Marketing & Communications will work closely across departments and in collaboration with senior leaders within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. This position makes considerable contributions to a variety of central mission and program marketing functions, including the oversight and production of all print and digital collateral, social media engagement, stakeholder communications (donors, parents, staff, etc.), targeted digital marketing campaigns, media relations, video production, and website management. They will manage one direct report, a Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops comprehensive marketing plans and objectives in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team with targeted goals, quantifiable outcomes, and appropriate timelines.
- Ties all marketing and communications back to our organization’s strategic goals, mission, and values.
- Establishes regular meetings and implements efficient processes to determine marketing and communications needs, strategies, schedules, and opportunities.
- Works collaboratively across all departments to ensure brand integrity and information accuracy for all media across all platforms and mediums.
- Develops and disseminates brand style guides, toolkits, logo suites, etc. to support compliance and consistency across all departments and locations.
- Identifies opportunities and executes strategies to increase awareness of Club programs, services, and opportunities for partnership within Brockton, Taunton, and beyond.
- Manages and maximizes the organization’s marketing and communications budget to ensure the responsible and effective deployment of financial resources.
Content Creation
- Ensures the creation of thoughtful, educational content to ensure current and prospective donors, partners, and families are informed and engaged with our work.
- Ensures a regular presence in Clubhouses and at Camp Riverside to capture photos and other relevant content to support marketing and communications efforts.
- Brainstorms, develops, and leads the direction and development of multimedia in support of specific stewardship communications, marketing campaigns, and organizational operations.
Social Media & Web Presence
- Oversees the organization’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn) and develops and drives our social media strategy to produce increases in the reach of our brand and engagement with our content.
- Manages the organization's website, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and visual appeal.
- Monitors, reports, and presents on KPI analytics (website, SEO, opens and click rates, social media, paid ads, etc.), leveraging key engagement metrics across platforms to optimize content, messaging, and distributions.
Program Marketing
- Ensures the production of session-based parent e-newsletters utilizing the Daxko Engage platform to inform families of current programs, services, policies, and resources.
- Ensures the creation of flyers for session-based program offerings, utilizing Canva and/or Adobe InDesign to support promotion to current/prospective Club families.
- Ensures the creation of targeted marketing e-campaigns utilizing Daxko Engage to inform current and prospective families of Club programs, services, events, etc.
- Ensures creation of brochures, postcards, banners, and other print and digital collateral to support expanded awareness of the benefits of Club membership.
Fundraising & Mission Marketing
- Supports the planning for and implementation of signature annual fundraising and stewardship events via the creation of save the dates, invitations, signage, program books, videos, etc., in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development.
- Supports the planning for and implementation of mailed and digital appeals that support the Great Futures Annual Campaign via e-blasts, social graphics, videos, enclosures, etc., in collaboration with the Director of Donor Relations.
- Supports the production of the organization's Annual Report and other high-level stewardship collateral (one-pagers, infographics, fact sheets, impact reports, donor info packets, etc.)
Public Relations
- Develops and maintains relationships with regional/local networks of media outlets (newspapers and television news) through the regular dissemination of press releases, to inform and inspire; regularly adding new contacts as they are relevant.
- Tracks direct and related media coverage and research current industry trends to help drive organizational PR strategy.
Special Projects
- Designs and produces internal and external building signage, vehicle wraps, special reports and presentations, etc., as assigned by the President & Chief Executive Officer and the Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or a related field with at least two years of relevant work experience is highly desired.
- Prior experience in a non-profit marketing and/or development capacity is preferred.
- Demonstrated eye for graphic design and experience using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management experience, including the ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines in a cross-functional, team-based environment.
- Demonstrated resource management, budgeting, and analytical skills – including the ability to compile and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes.
- Technological proficiency, including a command of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with using a database to track and extract information.
- Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to professionalism, including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment.
- Availability to work occasional evenings (1-2 per month) and weekends (2-3 per year) to attend before/after-hours meetings and/or fundraising and community engagement events. This position is eligible for remote work options outlined in our organizational remote work policy.
- Certifications: As outlined in the BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated timelines.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license and will require some local travel.
