Activity Leaders
Summer 2024
Rate of pay: $16/hour
We have an opening for one Activity Leader at our Hartford Park clubhouse, located at 50 Laurel Hill Avenue in Providence. Activity Leaders carry out fun, age-appropriate activities for ages 5-12 in sports & games, arts & crafts, outdoor play, recreation, and more. This is a summer seasonal position (M-F 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM), but there may be an opportunity to continue working during the school year (M-F 3:00-6:30 PM) following the summer, if mutually agreeable.
Work schedule:
- Must be available through August 23. There is also an opportunity to work August 26 through 30 if available. There also may be an opportunity to work after school hours during the school year, if mutually agreeable.
- Hours of work (summer): M-F 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (subject to change based on staffing needs; maximum of 30 hours/week in summer). School year (if mutually agreeable): M-F 3:00 to 6:30 PM.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Age 18 or older (required due to state Child Care regulations)
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Minimum of 12 college credits earned (preferred).
- At least one year of youth-related work experience in a group setting (required), in an urban, diverse setting (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in leading activities for school-age children (required).
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate positively with youth of ages 5-12.
- Ability to follow child safety and behavior management policies and procedures of organization.
- Ability to successfully pass all background checks if a conditional offer of employment is made, including but not limited to: national, state, and local background checks (fingerprint-based); RI DCYF and relevant out-of-state child abuse registry clearances; continuous criminal records monitoring during course of employment; education and employment verifications; reference checks; pre-employment drug test (for illegal drugs).
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (can be earned during employment).
Job Type: Part-time seasonal (Summer), but there may be opportunities to continue during the school-year after the summer, if mutually agreeable.
