Description

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs within a designated Clubhouse, such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts and Physical Education. Plan, develop, oversee implementation and supervise programs and program staff.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Program Development and Implementation

  • Plan, develop, evaluate and oversee implementation of arts, education, social recreation, health and physical education, computer center and specialty programs, activities and services that prepares youth for success.
  • Monitor program delivery and work with program staff to plan and implement improvements.
  • Communicate with club staff, members and partner agencies to insure understanding of program opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members.

Strategic Planning

  • Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs.

Resource Management

  • Control program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
  • Monitors program areas and provides constructive feedback to staff with regard to program delivery and member guidance and discipline.
  • Trains and guides Program Staff to insure an environment that promotes the physical, social and emotional well-being of youth, that incorporates guidance and discipline principles and that insures understanding of designated programs.
  • Orders program supplies in a cost efficient manner and insures program staff has supplies required to run programs.
  • Consult with parents about member issues.
  • Implement and manage all grants including completing monthly reports.

Partnership Development

  • Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit schools and hold meetings with principals as needed.
  • May consult with parents concerning member and branch issues.
  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
  • Manage Club in absence of the Club Director.
  • Plan field trips.

  • Professionalism in appearance, ensuring that dress is professional and appropriate for function/situation based on organizational dress code policies
  • Specific Individual measurable outcomes as determined by supervisor

Qualifications


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma/ GED Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the retention of key personnel.
  • Thorough knowledge of youth development theory and the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 8 hours or more
  • Must be able to move quickly to keep up with youth

Salary : $34,100 - $43,100
