Job Title: Youth Development Professional (YDP)
Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend
Reports To: Unit Director / Program Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Part-Time
Job Overview:
Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) are the heart of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend. YDPs are responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment where youth feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Through daily interaction and structured programming, YDPs help members develop social, emotional, and academic skills that will prepare them for future success. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with youth and making a lasting impact in their community.
We are currently hiring YDPs available to work from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Implementation
- Plan, lead, and support a variety of high-quality, age-appropriate programs and activities in core areas such as Education, Character & Leadership, Health & Wellness, and the Arts.
- Create daily schedules and lead group rotations, including enrichment, recreation, and snack times.
- Assist with homework help and academic support during Power Hour.
Youth Engagement
- Build positive, supportive relationships with members by serving as a mentor and role model.
- Encourage participation, creativity, and teamwork among youth of all ages.
- Maintain appropriate group management, using positive reinforcement and behavior guidance strategies.
Safety & Supervision
- Ensure a safe and clean environment at all times, following Boys & Girls Clubs safety procedures and policies.
- Supervise youth consistently during indoor and outdoor activities, transitions, and transportation (if applicable).
- Report incidents, concerns, or unusual behaviors to supervisors in a timely manner.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with other staff to plan events, implement programs, and share best practices.
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and families to support the needs and growth of each member.
- Participate in staff trainings, planning meetings, and professional development as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, youth development, or related field preferred
- Experience working with children or teens in a structured setting (school, daycare, camp, etc.)
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Must be enthusiastic, flexible, and a team player
- Must pass a background check and meet Boys & Girls Clubs child safety requirements
